UCC mural
The UCC mural was painted in the spring time of 2011. We were tasked with creating a design and hand painting the image on the wall of Upper Canada College. This college is a highly acclaimed school, with a massive campus of 40 acres.
One of the unique challenges associated with this mural project was the specific colour matching process. In the printing process there exists a colour chart called Pantone – this is a standard set of colours that printers use to make accurate reproductions – which is not easily purchasable in paint colours. Generally, when designs/logos/crest’s are crafted their colours are selected from the Pantone chart to allow consistent and accurate reproductions. In contrast to Pantone, paint colours do not have one standard chart, each individual paint manufacture has their own variation and interpretation on colour. This requires us to custom colour match in order to accurately reproduce a mural or design that has originally been crafted using the Pantone colour chart, as was the case in the UCC mural.

It was a joy to work in a school environment and from time to time its hard not to remember when we were in school, running around in the field. Oh what it is to be young again! Our resident photographer also made this truly entertaining video, enjoy.
